Really good German food can just hit the spot perfectly, and these guys know how to deliver.
The straightforward breakfast fare at this upper west side deli/brunch joint is phenomenally good. You don't have to get any cured fish, but it's highly recommended.
The terrible suit-ridden and uptight vibe is completely made up for by their absolutely amazing selection and fantastic service. I would recommend getting a flight of your favorite liquor genre.
The Kedgeree is absolutely fantastic. Subtly curried rice with smoked fish and herbs works perfectly having a soft boiled egg smashed on top.
Drinking out on this effective floating pier (fully moored boat) is a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend the roof deck!
