Went upstairs and a local band was playing. Good crowd, enough space to dance. Not bad for a Tues. night.
Wear black every 2nd Friday for Xmortis, a goth dance party. Live music every night of the week with (usually) minimal cover charge.
Amazing place to see a show. Really small, so you can get up close, also big potential to meet the band before/after shows. Will DEFINITELY be coming back.
Head downstairs around 11 on bluegrass night for a chance to see the performers jam together

Legendary folk joint. A slightly older crowd holds court here most nights, but also expect to see plenty of music-nerds.

Go House of Blues early enough to snag a spot against the railing on the second floor. Great spot to see a show and watch the crowd.
Bowery puts on the shows here. Take advantage of their no fee box office on Fridays from 12-6 when buying tickets.
Probably the best large venue in the Boston area. Good seating, right on the water, and parking isn't bad either. Only problem is the $11 cans of beer.
