- Diane Jean-MaryOktober 10, 2016Great for reading or working. Strong wifi, great beverage options, and friendly staff. The downstairs area and patio are great. the vibe mimics a library with good jams, food, and productive energy
- I really wish that they would not stack all of their pastries and desserts on top of one another. I'm allergic to nuts, and all of the donuts & muffins are always touching ones that have tons of nuts!
- It is really nice to have fun coffee shops around neighborhood. It has atmosphere most likely Brooklynish! It is rare thing in Upper East Side, indeed.
- Iced coffee and all of their sandwiches. Great place to work, study or relax with friends. Internet use is free with $10 purchase. Well worth it for the space and vibe.
- A great place to work (or have a meeting.) Free wifi, a downstairs filled with tables and an outdoor space, PLUS: doughnuts from Dough! I love it here.
- Ashley RoseDesember 5, 2014From Pure Wow: "Gingerbread Mocha Closer to Christmas, Café Jax on the Upper East Side will whip up seasonal lattes (like this classic) using Hudson Valley dairy products."
- eifehJanuari 13, 2017Great cafe to do some work. Coffee is decent with a nice selection of pastries. Wifi can be spotty. Plenty of seating. There's a bathroom for customers! Close to 86th street station.
- David DMaret 29, 2014Great espresso, sourced from Stumptown. Solid pastry selection, both sweet and savory. Cozy space (exposed brick), with half-a-dozen small tables to relax at. Perfect location, on our quiet block.
- AnyaDesember 17, 2016Their coffee is good and there is a hidden sitting area downstairs. Would be perfect if they could decorate it a little bit better to make it more cozy.
- L. T.Juli 17, 2015Chill environment for study or work. Downstairs has many different seating options. Drinks & food are a bit pricey, but you're gonna be plugging in and using wifi anyway. Earn your keep!
- Mike ZarinJuli 7, 2015Very cosy, not too coldy place. Quiet and calm atmosphere. Nice place for working! Enjoy super fast free wifi and coffee.
- Huaisi CenOktober 8, 2015My favorite spot in the neighborhood, like to hang out there by myself or with friends. They serve the best coffee in the neighborhood.
- Project Latte: a NYC cafe culture guideSeptember 21, 2014They pull good shots of Stumptown Hairbender but iced coffee should be avoided. A huge, beautiful downstairs area, garden included, provides lots of extra space. A welcome addition to the nabe. (5/14)
- Josiah David ChapmanJanuari 30, 2018Spacious coffee shop and cafe tucked away in a UES neighborhood. Ideal for those looking to settle in and get work done. Gorgeous basement study area.
- Meryl FernandesOktober 7, 2014Lovely coffee & a calming ambience. Perfect for working or just having a plesant private conversation. They have a patio, its nice to sit out sometimes. Just walk down.
- If you're trying to get some work done in a pretty nice environment, go here but get there early. I was there on Thursday during the day and it was pretty crowded downstairs at 11am.
- Aditi LuthraJuli 21, 2019Have to say - coffee hasn’t been great at all lately - skip the coffee & get one of their teas. Ambiance, music & spaciousness still wins amongst surroundings but for coffee, go to Ateaz/Variety
- Aditi LuthraMaret 21, 2019No longer have vegan pastries but coffee is fine. The main thing is their awesome music and huge space guaranteeing you a spot to sit every time
- Rowenna CuffSeptember 28, 2014Good coffee and dirty chai latte and a small but decent pastry selection. Gorgeous venue: high ceilings, vintage-feeling furniture and exposed brick walls. Love this place!
- Project Latte: a NYC cafe culture guideSeptember 21, 2014Although you must purchase something to use the wifi, something people on Yelp seem to have a problem with, there's a large, attractive downstairs space, pretty garden, plugs, good espresso.
- Sandra RubinchikAgustus 17, 2016Huge downstairs seating area with natural light perfect for working, chatting, or staring into space.
- Mia AJanuari 7, 2018make sure to order something before taking a seat, otherwise they will be very stern with you. Wifi password changes every day. Good seasonal drinks!
- Sherry WangNovember 7, 2014Good coffee and chai. Free wifi with a purchase. More seating (comfy couches) and outdoor patio downstairs. Make sure to head down and check out the Chinese antiques!
- This place has certainly got potential! Coffee by Stumptown, baked goods from Ovenly, croissants from La Tropezienne, and doughnuts from Dough Loco.
- Scones are meh, coffees are meh, but I keep coming back because the service is good and they have outdoor seating. It's a great place to study and beats the hell out of Starbucks for that reason.
- Amy MayerJanuari 5, 2015Found this place while staying in the area for NYE. Great local spot for fantastic coffee, we visited it a few times! Friendly staff!
- The good coffee & pastry selection as well as the ideal cafe ambiance make up for the less-than-stellar service.
- PaulApril 7, 2018The pastries are great. Where else on the UES can you find a donut the size of a child's head?
- SydneyApril 20, 2016Amazing downstairs with a productive vibe. Really great place to come for long periods of time to get work or studying done!
- Monica CullenApril 28, 2015Hidden gem with a quiet atmosphere and a sub level cafe area past the main counter. Not a lot of conversation going on--mostly people doing work.
- Beautiful high-ceilinged cafe space with a small assortment of pastries and beautiful vintage furnishings (for sale! And for sitting)
- Alexanne LaplanteMei 28, 2018Cozy place to have some work done. Go downstairs, there is more seating and a cute backyard access!
- Can't find a seat upstairs? Walk downstairs to find a huge basement with eclectic furniture that offers lots of seating. Free wifi again!
- One of the best cafe in ues for reading and working with laptop
- Stella FarinellyOktober 24, 2014The coffee and tea selections are all great...but the rodents(mouse!) seem to be frequent visitors here as well...what can I say..NYC!
- Very spacious (although usually crowded) basement makes this a nice place to work, but the drip coffee is not good.
- Beka CMei 14, 2016Bring an Apple device, order iced coffee, & wear a tank top. For how much they charge per cup of joe you'd think they would turn on the air but they keep it a sauna downstairs like a form of torture.
- Nicole ReganFebruari 7, 2016Great atmosphere, cozy with a nice space in the basement. Couches and large tables to work at.
- Great basement, a huge, eclectic space for working (with wifi) or hanging out. Still, I find that everytime I come here, I'm disappointed by something, whether it's subpar food or poor communication.
- Upstairs is nice: quaint, but typical small coffee shop feel. Downstairs tho? Loads of uncomfortable seating with one pair of leather lazyboy chairs that people fight over like gladiators. Bring sword
- Best place to work and grab a cup of matcha (or coffee) on the UES
- Abigail KofflerApril 15, 2018Great spot to do work with multiple WiFi networks, outlets, and a basement with natural light!
- In love. Great coffee, great croissant, great vibe.
- Yummy pastries. Downstairs is a nice quiet place to do work.
- Bryant BalatbatAgustus 27, 2015Make sure to check out the downstairs area. An Apple device is a must here to avoid looking out of place.
- Rose mocha was great. Lots of seating and a relaxing atmosphere.
- Bonnie CarpenterSeptember 9, 2014Downstairs away from the windows create a nice quiet space for reading. Their cappuccino is great
