    広島では有数の観光地の一つ。旧社格は官幣中社で、現在は神社本庁の別表神社。全国に約500社ある厳島神社の総本社。祭神は宗像三女神の市杵島姫命・田心姫命・湍津姫命。伝承によれば推古天皇元年 (593年) 佐伯鞍職が社殿の造営の神託を受け、勅許を得て御笠浜に社殿を創建したことに始まると伝える。厳島 (宮島) の北東部、弥山の北麓に鎮座する。

    A must visit. Highlight of our 12 day trip to Japan. Dinner Options are scarce after dark. Bring food, beer & wine to catch sunset and the tide roll in. Check tide charts online for timing.

    厳島神社は平清盛ゆかりの神社として、海上に立つ有名な大鳥居 (重文) は日本三大鳥居の一つであるほか、平舞台 (国宝) は日本三舞台の一つ。本社本殿・回廊・高舞台等6練が国宝、反橋・五重塔・豊国神社等14練が重要文化財に指定され、平家納経を始めとした国宝・重要文化財の工芸品を多数納める。1996年 (平成8年) ユネスコ世界遺産 (文化遺産) に登録されている。

    【国宝】名称は「厳島神社」…登録は建造物（6棟） 「本社本殿、幣殿、拝殿」「本社祓殿」「摂社客（まろうど）神社本殿、幣殿、拝殿」「摂社客神社祓殿」「廻廊東廻廊」「廻廊西廻廊」…古来より神聖視された宮島にあり海上鎮護の神として崇敬された。北の入り江に建ち、南奥の本社本殿と東の客社本殿は両流造形式で、拝殿や祓殿などの諸建築を回廊で連続した景観は、寝殿造の大邸宅を思わせる。

    The O-Torii is beautiful at high tide, although it's still a good picture for your album at low tide. With a good angle, you can always take a great picture at sunset.

    Definitely would recommend going at high tide. There are deer just roaming around the island!! (Guard your map and paper valuables from them).

    Beautiful. I personally preferred seeing it at high tide and sunset. Walking up to it at low tide is interesting but super wet and damp. My shoes were not prepared

    もみじ饅頭がお土産に有名だと紅葉をイメージしちゃうけど、桜の時期もよい。夕方になると鳥居前が写真スポットです。アンダー気味に曇天日陰モードで人だかりを入れて撮ってみてください。かなりいい写真になりますよ。夜間の灯篭も雰囲気を盛り上げる。

    Uno de los templos más bonitos. Si duermes en Miyajima, deja la visita al conjunto para la mañana siguiente y vente a verlo MUY pronto (7am). Es otra cosa!

    Great spot for pictures. You can get here with your JR Pass, but it can be more convenient to depart from Memorial Park.

    世界遺産！バイクで行くのは厳しいからフェリーに乗る前にバイクを置いて、体とカメラだけで行くのがいい☆近くにある牡蠣屋の牡蠣屋定食がおすすめ。土日祝は人が多すぎる…フェリーは並ぶ
