    THE BEST hiking in the NYC vicinity. Take the metro north train from grand central, but come prepared with food and water! The train stop has none of it. Continue on to beacon tower!

    If you’re feeling up for 10 miles round trip, keep going to Sunset Point and onward on white to the Mt Beacon Fire Tower, then back on yellow trail up and over Sugarloaf. Doable with the 9a/4p trains.

    The flag pole is great for pictures and all, but don't be deceived. You still have a ways to go. Bring at least 1.5L of water for the standard loop trail

    Great views of the Hudson River, easy to access on Metro North, difficult hike but it’s only a few hours so great day trip from NYC!

    Mountain that straddles Beacon & Cold Spring. The hike towards the first of the four scenic outlook requires you to do a rock scramble. Make sure to bring a lot of water and snacks as well as gloves.

    Metro station often does not stop at the breakneck station, so watch out. Get off at Cold Springs of that's the case, because a cab ride from Beacon will cost you $20 for a 5 mile ride.

    steep initial climb is worth it for the amazing views and fun rock scrambling oppurtunties. metro north train from nyc will let you off near the trailhead.

    Beginning of the hike involves climbing a wall of boulders (don't bring a dog), and remember to look back at the scenic views as you climb! A Metro North to Breakneck Ridge is available on weekends.
