This is the Original Chicken & Rice Cart Location.. As the name says it get u'r chicken on rice, then smother it with the Hot, BBQ, or Ranch sauces.. Enjoy it with Pita Bread...
I ordered gyro over rice and falafel sandwich at 4:30pm on a rainy day which means line was non existent. I got chicken over rice and gyro sandwich. They have only 3 proteins. You deduce my thoughts..
Watch out for imposters. The real deal are the guys in yellow sweatshirts. The yogurt and hot sauce are outta this world. Hands down the best street meat in NYC
Cash only (duh?), seven bucks for a rice plate and five bucks for a sandwich. Great rice and pita. These days I can only eat about half before I get sick of it, though.
Be careful everyone. There are impostors who have setup shop on the corner of W53rd & 6th (across from the hotel) who use the same color scheme, same bags, and almost the same logo as The Halal Guys!
Get the chicken/gyro combo, slather on white sauce, dot on hot sauce (it's killer), and ask for a lid in case you don't finish it. Identical carts across and down the street - look for the yellow bags
$7 for huge portion. Mix chicken & lamb gyro over rice. Extra white sauce. Red is spicy--eat at your own risk. Look for yellow shirts that say "original."
Noticed on my last trip to NYC that the line for this cart always stretched down the block, even late at night. So we tried the chicken on rice this trip, and now we know why the lines were so long!
Get the lamb and rice... Beware of the imposter during the day! They should be wearing yellow shirts, have yellow bags and have the logo "we are different" ;)
Great spot. Food is fresh and very tasty. I've eaten here last three times I was in NY and it was consistently good. Will go back, don't care what the haters below say, just a bunch of salty people
The OG truck is on the southwest corner of 53rd & 6th. The one on the south east corner is usually less crowded, but the EXACT same crew... & will have on the trademark curry color Halal Guy Polos
Known for the best halal in the city, we love to come here for the chicken and gyro combo with white sauce. The portions are huge, so don't feel obligated to finish the whole thing!
Not a fan of the chicken, gets a bit dry, but everything else is wonderful. Beware of the hot sauce. If you can’t handle spicy it’ll ruin your meal, day, and next morning. 😉
Lamb and rice. Ask for an excess of white sauce, you'll be happy you did. If you can handle spicy (and by spicy I mean willing to risk the formation of a stomach ulcer), say yes to the red sauce.
Get the Chicken Platter with a decent amount of white sauce. Go very easy on the red sauce if you don't eat very hot foods and use a lot if you love hot food like I do.
The line would have u believe it is amazing, but really it's just pretty good. 6 bucks buys u food for two. Or eat it yourself and give your leftovers to someone living on the street.
