Site of the ECAC men's tournament final four from 1962 to 1966, when the rink was known as Boston Arena. St. Lawrence, Harvard, Providence, Boston College, and Clarkson have each won 1 championship.

Matthews Arena is home to the Northeastern Huskies men's and women's hockey teams, and men's basketball team as well as the Wentworth Institute of Technology’s men's hockey team.
