the uni soba was spot-on. if you like grated yam and uni, this is your dish! the nabeyaki udon was cooked in a very deep, chicken broth - best I've had so far outside of Japan! highly recommend both
Get the bowl with uni, roe, and crab legs. So good and tasty! It’s a bit on the pricey side, with MP at $25 when I went. I also got the miso pork but could’ve went without it.
Come here for lunch and fill up your tummy with one of their combo specials – the Salmon Oyako Don or the Chicken Kuwayaki are delish. Service is a bit iffy.
The amount of uni that you get in the unisoba is insane! Very good soba! Other dishes in the menu you get a much better deal in Sakagura. Sake menu is decent and Yakitori is quite good too! Enjoy! :)
After countless orders, we finished our evening with desserts (I highly recommend getting the 3 course and cheesecake). Tempura & skewers needs more salt!! Loved the duck prosciutto & kawari tofu.
Sashimi and soba are great although the amount of rice in the sashimi sansho don is quite a lot for the amount of fish. Soba was austere and could use a few threads of scallion
Chirashi lunch special is the best in midtown, 10 bucks with a huge bowls of raw fish together with sushi rice and hot or cold soba by choice and sides. Be there before noon cuz there gotta be lines.
This is what I order every time: duck soba (cold noodles w/ hot duck dipping sauce—noodles stay firm), mochi bacon yakitori, corn tempura, Tori Dango (steamed sticky rice dumpling stuffed chicken)
Sashimi sanshoku don lunch bowl has quite a lot of rice for the amount of fish. Soba side is good although austere. Could use a few scallion threads at least
The Okame soba is the shit. I'm also a huge fan of all the Yakitori. Try the chicken hearts, gizzards, shiitake, shishito skewers. I haven't a bad dish so I recommend trying everything!
Come M-F 11:30-12pm & order $10 bara chirashi bowl+soba deal(limited to 1st 20)-no longer a great deal but still ok. They're skimping out now: @times NO uni, less tuna & salmon, & more of mackerel.
Just go straight to the soba. The noodles are amazing, very different from the regular soba you get elsewhere. I'd recommend the Duck mushroom broth with cold soba. Incredible.
Menu seems changed & parred down. Wasn’t quite as good as before, but still pretty decent. Still recommend the yakitori, although chicken in negima skewers weren’t as cleanly trimmed as in the past 😕
The first 20 of barachirashi-don set of the day is at $10. Had better but definitely no complains at that price. Good for the budget and should satisfy any Jap craving.
Their other addicting dishes are their house salad & $20 uni, crab, & salmon roe rice. ;9 Dinner menu is different. Lunch is definitely the time to go!
A cool, upscale place for business lunch/dinner in Midtown. You can get a lunch bento for $15. Sushi and sake are fine, too. The atmosphere is modern and classy.
Almost evry time I've gotten the $10 bara chirashi bowl recently, there's been no uni in it-seems mighty fishy they serve uni ikura bowl & don't hv it in $10 bowl anymore. Are they "cheaping" out now?
The service is friendly but the food isn't anything spectacular. Had the Okame Soba (not enough meat) and Oyako Don (not bad). The tempura was nice and fresh.
