Anne vdB: Sixtus V Peretti restored the acqueducts, eg Acqua Alessandrina renamed Felice. The fountain that marked the terminus, built by Fontana in 1587, was the first monumental wall fountain since antiquity.

Anne vdB: The female statues by Mario Rutelli represent Naiads, water nymphs of the Oceans, Rivers, Lakes & Underground Waters, each one featured with an allegorical animal related to their environments.
