Rick Webb: Long-standing bar popular with the college kids, hippies and wanderers. I met Chris McCandless there once! My dad used to have his lions meetings there! They used to have tabletop Mrs. Pacman.
Rick Webb: A sort of amusement park-historical park-picnic grounds celebrating Fairbanks' history. Check out the old town cabins. Visit the railroad car Harding took up to Alaska to launch the Alaska Railroad!
Rick Webb: Giant bar and live venue, with films sometime. A favorite with the locals. Run by an old Bostonian! If you're in town for the summer solstice, come to their giant party.
Rick Webb: No trip to Fairbanks is complete without a trip to the Howling Dog (provided its summer). Come early. Stay late. Stare at the Midnight Sun and have another beer.

Rick Webb: Ice Hotel! Ice Bar! Indoor and outdoor hot springs-fed pools (which are quite nice!) Japanese tourists! A 65 mile drive straight east of Fairbanks, but so worth it. The drive is great too.
Rick Webb: Fairbanks' oldest bowling alley (except for maybe the one on Base). Seedy, ancient and glorious. Built in an old airplane hanger from Wein field, the field across the street & behind the library.
Rick Webb: Ronald Reagan ate here! I had my ten year high school reunion here! They have good beers. Sit on the deck in the summer and enjoy the view and the pub menu.

Rick Webb: The guy that runs this place is a little weird and served in the state house and is generally kinda creepy but the food's good and it could be considered Fairbanks' first "gastropub."
Rick Webb: Not the theater of my youth - it was destroyed and rebuilt in the 90s - but still the best and pretty much only theater in town, save for occasional movies at UAF or the Loon.
Rick Webb: A lovely bird preserve where you can check out Canadian Geese, Mallards, Sand Hill Cranes and more. Also check out the old dairy and the nature trail! Occasional moose sightings are not uncommon.
Rick Webb: This mall used to be THE JAM, where kids in Fairbanks came to see and be seen. It even had a Musicland! I stole a playboy from the Waldenbooks once. I was a rebel.
