From Hawksbill Gap lot, easiest (not shortest) way up is the spur trail at the very north end of the parking lot then left at the AT, then left at Salamander Trail. (See the posted map.)

Short hike from the parking areas, with nearly 360 degree views. And it's the highest point in the park!
