The Zoo was founded in 1888 & is Oregon's largest paid attraction. In 1962 Packy, the first elephant born in the Western Hemisphere in 44 years, was born. He is the tallest Asian elephant in the US.
If you shake your keys along the glass in the Penguin exhibit, they will chase your keys along the window. The zoo keeper told me the penguins are attracted to shiny objects and love to play chase.

There's a geocache in the Great Northwest area, but cell signal is poor in that area of the zoo, so look it up ahead of time. You'll need the description to open the lock.
