It's a must in the Finger Lakes but the stairs (especially at the end going up) are tough. Good news is you can reward yourself with local beer or wine at the end and take a shuttle back to the bottom
The Gorge trail is so amazing. Go before noon on a weekday if you can to avoid a lot of tourists. Wear good shoes as part of the trail is wet because of the waterfalls partly falling on the trail
Prepare for the hike! If you need to take it easy on stairs, start at the top and walk down, but make sure the free shuttle is running that day to get you back up. Ice cream at the bottom too!
What a gem. This has to be one of the most unique and delightful stateparks I’ve been to. Gorge Trail and its many caverns, under-waterfall passageways, and overlooks was just stunning.
I make it a point to walk this glen every time we come to the Finger Lakes. I love this place. It's magical. Check out the cemetery as you come down from the top. You see something new every time!
Amazing park! Great for hiking and nice views. Gorge Trail is the most scenic and is 832 steps to the top. (Stairs are broken up into sets of 20-40 so it's more manageable.)
This is definitely a must see if in the Finger Lakes region. The gorge trail is fun and you see how the water has cut and eroded through the rock. The whole trail is surreal and very picturesque.
One of NY's most beautiful state parks! Absolutely loved hiking in the gorges. And the camping was next to perfect. Sites are decently sized and well secluded from one another. Definitely recommend!
Nice campground with private spots. We were in 3 in Cayuga. But the showers were set to extremely hot, like to hot for a child. Since it was 90 degrees outside you weren’t taking a shower to cool off
The focus of USS Accord's Watkins Glen Weekend. A beautiful state park in New York's Finger Lakes region, STARFLEET chapter USS Accord holds a hike each fall. Everyone is invited to join in!
It's always a good walk up. The last staircase will kill you. After you takes break at the top for awhile. Take the indian trail back down. Cross the bridge and go down to couches staircase.
Take the Gorge trail! Go upward rather than downwards, complete just half the trail then head back. Don't use their bathrooms. Wear sneakers, not flip flops. Spray-on a bug repellant
