One of the faster in-n-outs we’ve been to (at least before noon). Right off the freeway.
Short drive on a dirt road that most cars can do. Beautiful scenery and like that it’s one way. Easy to do before sunset at Zabriskie Point.
Beautiful spot and well worth the spur trail. Great place to eat the lunch you brought in your backpack.
Long drive to get here but cool and easy hike around the crater rim. Didn’t go down in as had heard from friends it’s miserable getting back up and not worth it.
An interesting diversion from Death Valley that gives you a unique perspective on life here 110 years ago. If with kids you’ll want to be selective about reading the signs in the red light district.
Tiny station but very friendly rangers and a lot less busy than Furnace Creek
Love meandering around the oasis area with flowing water, palms and little paths. Lobby bar and fire pits are nice, and be sure to check out the star gazing terrace on the top floor after dinner.
Surprisingly nice old hotel in the middle of nowhere. Rooms are comfy after the recent renovation and bathrooms are bigger than expected. Nice bar and lobby with chess boards, but the food sucks.
Very crowded on weekends but still cool. Great place for kids to play especially if they are into Star Wars. Sunset ranger talk is a nice free treat.
Very cool now with water in the basin. Super crowded and the salt can irritate your skin if not careful.
Friendly rangers like you’d expect who have lots of hiking tips. Pock up a junior ranger book for kids so they have something to do in the car as the driving distances are big here between sights.
Beautiful drive thru diverse colored hills. Worth doing even when cloudy but not as spectacular.

Awesome loop hike when add in Red cathedral and Gower Gulch. Go clockwise otherwise you’re going up hill thru the boring wash.

One of the best parts of the hotel. Amazing at night and amazing at first light in the morning.
Amazing apple pie that is worth a stop to pick up. Avoid the weak coffee.
Obscure and out of the way historic site but worth it if in the area and you like to hike. Be sure to do the overlook trail on the way back. Plan for 3 hours at least.
Wine is just ok, but the food is great for lunch. Love the beet salad and spinach artichoke and hatch chili dip.
Well worth the climb up for an amazing view. Surprisingly a great experience, even as a jaded NewYorker. Buy well in advance and enjoy, unless you are scared of heights.

Good for a kids haircut. Fast cheap and with video games to keep them entertained. Friendly staff.
Best place to eat in Coolidge if going to casa grande. Nice outdoor seating and good Greek food. Can’t go wrong for lunch. They do have beer and booze.
Wonderful historic inn with lush grounds and graceful if slightly aging cottages. Good upkeep overall and nice outdoor sitting areas. A real gem in an amazing neighborhood.
Beautifully peaceful historic (for Tucson) neighborhood made up of cute houses small and grand. Great place for a morning jog.
